Scott McDonald is the CEO and Founder of Emergent Search Partners and Angel investor in Corporate Social Responsibility start up Better the World/FlipGive. www.bettertheworld.com
Scott started Emergent Search Partners in 2005. His areas of recruitment expertise are in the Enterprise Software, Mobile Networking, and Telecommunications space. Scott prefers to work with the hottest well funded start ups specifically those backed by the likes of Sequoia Capital, Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers, Accel Partners, Redpoint Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz. Scott likes to work with companies that are in their “pre” or “early” revenue phase and that will be disruptive to their respective industries.
Previously, Scott co-founded 180 Consulting Inc. in 1999. 180 Consulting was extremely well known for building the early sales teams at Foundry Networks, Sycamore Networks, Cisco Systems, Checkpoint Software, Netscreen Technologies, and many more “.com” era heavyweights.
An accomplished executive search specialist, entrepreneur, and angel investor, McDonald has played an integral part in building many of today’s leading Enterprise Software and Telecommunication companies. Scott has personally placed close to $100M in “on target earnings” with many of the hottest start ups on the planet. He possesses a unique understanding of candidate behaviour and the ever changing dynamics of the human capital business. He has a deep understanding of what early stage companies need to achieve in their hiring strategies. Scott’s history of placing Sales candidates that truly “move the needle” is second to none.
Scott is the proud father of Joshua (9) and Alexa (7) and when not trying to close sales candidates on great opportunities is either on the ice coaching his son’s hockey team or nervously watching his daughter in her competitive cheerleading competitions. Scott and his wife Mary live in beautiful Unionville, Ontario and share a love for travel, particularly the Caribbean. In fact, during a sabbatical in 2005, Scott and Mary took the kids (then 2 and 1) to live on a remote island in the Bahamas called Eleuthera.
